Background:

St Peter's CofE Primary School was founded in 1857 by the first vicar of St Peter's, Father George Rundle Prynne as a parish school. For over 100 years the school was in Wyndham Square next to the church. In 1971 the school moved to Rendle Street near Western Approach. The school building is modern, light and airy, with attractive, large classrooms and large shared area both inside and in the open air. There are five classrooms and a nursery. The multi-purpose hall is in the middle building and it is used for its daily worship and assembly. It also has two large tarmac playgrounds at either end of the school, grass and garden area and an environmental studies area. A wide range of extra-curricular clubs are offered at lunchtime and after-school. These include football club, netball club, cricket club, drama club, homework or computer club and sailing club. The school aims to provide a happy and stimulating environment in which the children can be taught well and learn well.
