Background:

Original grammar school opened in 1904 and moved in 1983 to new premises in attractive grounds on outskirts of Torquay in south Devon, within easy reach of Dartmoor National Park. New purpose-built science and technology, media studies and expressive arts suite opened in 1994/95; new language centre in April 1998. Specialist language college status; offers French, German, Russian, Japanese, and Spanish; links with Italy, Russia, France and Germany. New music suite (2003); sports changing rooms opened in 2004 by Chris Read, England test cricketer and a former pupil.
