Background:

St John's is a Roman Catholic Primary School. It is conveniently situated in a residential area of the town and is also fortunate in that it stands in considerable grounds, which provide very pleasant surroundings and benefits pupils, teachers and parents alike. The outside facilities provide two hard play/games areas, in addition to a grassed pitch, which is utilised for both summer and winter sporting activities. St John's School a place where God's love for them is shared and nurtured by helping all children and adults, in its school community, to live their lives based on the Gospel values. Its aim to enable children to experience a wide range of physical exercise building from coordination, spatial awareness and ball handling skills thorough to learn games and a variety of athletic, gymnastic, dance and swimming activities. Music is a universal source of pleasure, a means of expression and a widespread recreational activity. Musical practice throughout the school enables children to experience a range of activities. This includes listening and responding to many styles of music in written, oral and pictorial forms. The school aims to educate the whole child, enabling them to develop their gifts and talents to the full.
