Background:

South Dartmoor Community College is situated on the eastern edge of the town of Ashburton in an attractive rural setting within the boundary of the Dartmoor National Park. It provides an extensive range of opportunities for students of all ages and abilities. The college has Specialist Sports College status, and runs accelerated learning programmes, having been the pilot school for Devon's numeracy and literacy programmes. It offers a wide range of GCSE, A level and vocational courses, with a thriving sixth form and community education provision. Days are set aside for activities such as team building, visits to museums, galleries and science exhibitions and career events. The school aims to work within a broadly Christian framework in which the spiritual and moral values of its democratic country are practised and promoted.
