Background:
Founded in 1842, the small rural village school occupies Victorian buildings. The interior of the main building has been 'well modernised' with two classrooms, a library and a resources area and two additional classrooms, built in 1994 and 1999, are linked to the main building with a covered walkway. Is served by a new NGfL computer network and offers a large playing field, enclosed playground and a nature garden used as an outdoor classroom. Extra-curricular activities include French, photography, orienteering, African drumming, swimming, tag rugby, basketball, football, tennis, athletics. It has been a member of the outstanding schools' teacher training consortium since 1997 and became a Beacon School in 2001. Pupils' artwork was diplayed in the Millennium Dome in 2000, in addition to the Royal Albert Museum, Exeter and local galleries. Pupils have represented the county in athletics and rugby and regularly raise funds for charities such as the Lions Club, NCH and help the Aged.
