Background:
The school was built in the 1930s but benefits from a major upgrade and new classroom extension in 1997. It occupies a site close to the town centre and facilities include a school field adjacent to the main building. The school enjoys a 'good reputation' for sport and outdoor pursuits, winning all tag rugby, soccer, netball and swimming competitions for local schools in 1999/2000. A programme of residential opportunities runs throughout Key Stage 2, the highlight being a week in London for children in Years 5 and 6. The school'supports many community initiatives including regular support for national and local charities.
