Background:
Founded in 1873 by the then Rector of Plymtree, Plymtree is housed in a Victorian building with many more recent additions. The school's current focus is the development of its grounds 'to encourage positive playtimes'. The school has won an Education Extra award for its extra-curricular activities. There is a 'strong' emphasis on music, a wide range of instrumental tuition and choirs, and 'much success' in the Devon Festival of Performing Arts. There is also a wide range of sporting opportunities. The small rural school, located in a 'supportive village community', has a 'very good partnership with parents' and a 'strong' Friends of Plymtree School association. Regular events raise funds for local and international charities. 'Plymtree School aims to provide high quality education in a Christian setting'.
