Background:
Dame Mary Dean of Maristow was the eldest daughter of Sir James and Lady Elizabeth Modyford. The school was opened in 1722 as a charity school to be run as a Church of England Foundation. The school aims to provide a broad and balanced curriculum. Extra-curricular activities are offered to pupils by all the teaching staff. A wide range of activities are available eg football, netball, athletics, gymnastics, art, recorders, choir and technology. The range of activities is subject to change and pupils are given the opportunity to join clubs at the start of each term. The school aims to help each child realise his/her maximum potential in a happy school environment.
