Background:
Manadon Vale Primary School opened in 1958. It now has a two form entry with children grouped with children of their own year. The school is situated in 'a very pleasant area of Plymouth' and boasts 'extensive grounds' which are used for environmental and sporting activities. The school is popular with parents and is regularly heavily over-subscribed. Parents are welcome in the school to assist within and outside the classroom. Extra-curricular activities cover sports and musical activites including string, woodwind and brass ensembles in addition to a full orchestra and choir. There are annual residential visits to Belgium and Holland and the Beaford centre in North Devon. The Friends of Manadon Vale School exists to provide financial and practical support for the school and has done much to equip and refurbish the classrooms.
