Background:
Montpelier Junior School was founded in 1949. The school's facilities include a state of the art computer suite, music room, library and a well-equipped room for special needs. In addition to 40 laptops in the computer suite, each classroom has a minimum of three lap top computers. From September 2004 interactive whiteboards will be installed in every teaching area. The school offers a number of extra- curricular activities including netball, football, hockey, mini tennis, cross-country running and athletics. In addition club activities include choir, musical instrument tuition, elocution, art, computers and homework. All children are given the opportunity to participate in educational activities that involve visiting speakers, musicians and theatre companies. The school promotes visits and trips to places of historic, local and environmental interest. It attempts to provide a broad and balanced education that fosters the development of every child's intellect and creativity. The school aims to foster the learning imagination and the creative understanding of all children.
