Background:
Landscore County Primary was built as a Board School in 1880. It moved onto its new premises in 1976 and the buildings were remodelled with a new building in 1993. There are 'good grounds', a playing field, an adventure playground and hard-surface playgrounds. The school is set in a small semi-urban, semi-rural market town. It has an 'excellent record' in swimming, cricket, football and netball in local tournaments. There is also 'excellent music' with two choirs and an orchestra. The school has a 'very good artistic reputation' and 'excellent links with the community'. Pupils help to raise money for charities including for a baby unit in Bristol. The school aims 'to develop lively enquiring minds together with a positive wish to learn, to question and to argue rationally, and to apply themselves intelligently to tasks'. The school aims to provide a warm, caring and happy environment, which offers a wide variety of rich learning opportunities to all its children, helping them grow into independent, responsible adults.
