Background:
Boringdon was opened in 1975 as a one form entry school. Since then, the number of children being admitted has doubled. The grounds incorporate three playgrounds and a playing field and are situated in a 'pleasant residential area' on the outskirts of Plymouth with 'extensive rural views'. Pupils at Boringdon enjoy a range of extra-curricular activities including athletics, basketball, chess, cricket, recorders, tag rugby, hockey, choir, percussion, gymnastics and football. Both football and cricket teams have won local titles in recent years. Boringdon is 'very well supported' by the community and the children participate in local activities, educational visits. Visitors 'regularly' contribute to their learning. A 'large' group of volunteer parent and friend helpers are 'valued by the school' and parental support for school activities, meetings and homework is 'excellent'.
