Background:

Though originally founded in 1337 by Bishop John de Grandisson, The King's School celebrated its 450th anniversary under its current name in 1995. It is set on the outskirts of the rural town of Ottery St Mary, looking towards the coast and views of Otter Valley. The main building, which dates from 1911, has been extended in three phases to accommodate the school's expansion and there is some temporary accommodation and more building work, including additional sporting facilities is planned for 2007. 'The King's School is proud to be a true comprehensive, serving all the children from the local community. It aims to encourage pupils of all abilities to achieve their best'. The school is a Sports College but also a Training School and a centre for Cogition and Learning. The school has an extremely active PTPA and school council adds to the breadth of the schools links with the community. A caring community where being your best is supported and encouraged by all.
