Background:
This small village school dates from 1866, the original buildings have been extended and modernised and provide 'light, bright and spacious' accommodation. The school 'highly values' the role it plays in the community and 'greatly benefits from enormous support and encouragement'. Pupils regularly hold special events to raise money for various causesin cluding Oxfam, Help the Aged and the local ambulance service. Extra-curricular activities include, recorder and guitar lessons, craft group, chess club, rug making, gym club, stamp collecting club, and netball and football training. The school has a successful football team, and some of the children's poems were selected for publication. It is a school 'where mutual care and concern generate a calm and happy atmosphere and children achieve good academic results'.
