Background:

Built in 1972 in 'extensive' grounds' on a hill with 'panoramic' views of Torbay, the school is over-subscribed, with a significant number of pupils travelling from Brixham, Paignton and the surrounding area. A new extension was completed in 1999 and the grounds have benefited from planting programs by the pupils and the construction of adventure play apparatus. The school is 'very proud' of its academic, sporting and dramatic achievements, which include two Year 6 pupils representing the South West in the Children's Parliament on the Environment, taking part in debates at the Houses of Parliament and meeting the Prime Minister. The school's football teams (for both boys and girls) frequently win tournaments, while the choir and drama group are very active, performing for the community and raising funds for charities such as the World Widlife Fund for Nature. The school'sees this as a high priority and supports both local and national charities. Year 6 pupils recently represented Torbay in a drama performance at the Millennium Dome. The school is over-subscribed and there is a waiting list for all classes.
