Background:

Canada Hill Community Primary School is situated close to Newton Abbot in the newer part of the village of East Ogwell. The school opened to children in September 1991 and has been built to a high specification with an ongoing programme of extensions and updates. There are currently eleven well-equipped classrooms, each having an Internet linked and broadband computer terminal. All upper junior classrooms have digital projectors and interactive whiteboards. There are four resource areas for individual study, with library facilities, home economics, a well-equipped computer suite and wet practical areas. The large hall is used for physical education, performances and drama and class assemblies as well as being used as a dining area. There are extra curricular clubs for netball, dance, football, cricket and tag rugby, with regular matches against local schools. Involvement in other community sports clubs and events is encouraged and celebrated by the school. The National Curriculum has five core subjects, which are English, mathematics, science, Information Communications Technology and Religious Education.
